Hello!  My name is Mr. Weis and I'm excited to be student teaching at Grand Meadow.  I will be working with Ms. Baudoin and Mr. Bob Burmester.  The next few months will for sure be busy, but loaded with fun doing activities and working with the students.  I visited Grand Meadow for three days last fall and I had a blast checking out the school and being involved with the students in the gym.

I'm currently enrolled at Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) in Marshall, MN.  I'm in the process of completing my K-12 Physical Education Degree and Developmental Adaptive Physical Education (DAPE) license.  In addition to my academic activities and experiences at SMSU, I participated in several clubs such as the American Sign Languge Club which I'm the founder and president of for two years, I was the marketing officer for the Education Minnesota Student Program (EMSP) club, I was involved in Senate, and Fellowship for Christian Athletes.  I was also a student-athlete as I was the thrower for the SMSU Track and Field team which I was conference champion in the shot put two times and 4 times team MVP.  Through my involvements amd services, I was fortunate to be voted 2016 Homecoming King and at graduation I was awarded the Most Outstanding Senior.  My experiences at SMSU has helped developed me into the person I am today and I'm very excited to use my experiences to make a difference in the students.

I grew up in Luverne, MN and graduated from high school in 2013 being involved in football, basketball, baseball, track and field, and peer helping.  I have one brother, Drew and my parents Tony and Natasha.  I'm 23 years old and I grew up with a profound hearing loss most of my life and I wear hearing aids which allows me to communicate well with the students and others.  One unique experience I had this summer was that I competed for team USA in the shot put, discus, and hammer at the 23rd Summer Deaflympics in Samsun, Turkey!  Physical education has always been my favorite class as I love being physically active.  I look forward to using my passion to promote physical activities to the students and families.  Feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns!

Sincerely,

Alex Weis
