Concussion Testing and Fall Sports Meeting
Concussion Testing and the Fall Sports Meeting

August 9 will be Baseline Concussion testing and the Fall Parent and Athlete Sports Meeting. Baseline Concussion testing will be held in 3 separate sessions beginning promptly at 3:00, 4:00 and 5:00. It is very important for students to show up 10 minutes prior to the testing session that they would like to participate in. If they are not present 10 minutes prior to the testing session, they will need to wait until the next session to be tested. All students begin testing at the same time so we cannot have students reporting at random times. Also, each session can only accommodate approximately 25 students at a time. In past years many people have attended the 5:00 session and we cannot accommodate them all. Please encourage your son/daughter to attend at 3:00 or 4:00 if possible. Other schools use assigned times and we are hoping to avoid having to do this, if possible. This is the only date that Baseline Concussion testing is conducted so students will that will participate in any sport during the 2017-18 school year should attend. Baseline Concussion testing is not mandatory but is highly recommended.

At 6:00 pm on August 9 will be the Fall Sports Meeting in the Legacy Gym. This meeting is intended for all students in grades 7-12 that will be participating in Cross Country, Volleyball or Football. Parents are also expected to attend this meeting. State Law requires each school district to annually present information regarding concussions. Mayo Clinic Athletic Trainer, Jim Williams, will be on hand to present this information. Coaches in all 3 sports will also be on hand to disseminate important information for their upcoming seasons.?
