Whether you are participating in a concert or only watching one, proper etiquette is a must. A great audience is always appreciated by the performers. What follows is a list of appropriate behaviors for audiences.
Sit silently while the group/soloist is performing.
Applaud appropriately following the performance.
Save comments, talking, etc. for any 'stretching time' or intermissions. At expensive theatres, the ushers will ask you to leave if you are causing any type of distraction.
Use of cell phones, whether texting or even having it on vibrate, is strongly frowned upon. Turn them off at the beginning of a concert or ticketed event where silence is a must and check only during intermission or after leaving the venue.
